[WardFive] Re: [ward5] A Constructive Proposal

Hello Kathy,

Strange - someone suggested this earlier today during a conversation.  I can arrange for the Cafe to host such an event and I will ensure that there would be no angry tones or words tolerated.  Open respectful dialogue or you will be asked to leave.  Hopefully, this will lead to a larger place like in Luke C. Moore's Auditorium.  I also know of a awesome person who is about 70 and one of the most intellgent and Charasmatic persons that I know.  Also, I am sure that he could lead such a dialogue and actually give a speech on this when it comes to that point. We have spoken before about this and speaking about our education issues and how to approach it with solutions.

I will set it up.  Any dates that don't conflict with anything else that is important in Ward 5?

Jerry,

You are on a roll; I like your suggestion. Perhaps Rob will host a small gathering at his beloved Brookland Cafe and provide light refreshments for this meeting. May I also suggest that interested parties read the Nature of Prejudice by Gordon Allport (if you have not done so). I believe it is helpful to understand the difference between racism and prejudice.

Finally, this is a difficult subject to pursue but well worth it.

I can do that

I would like to make a small proposal to all who would like to see a coming together of our friends and neighbors (black, white, and those in the middle) here in this Ward.   We can sit here in the  relative comfort of our homes and snipe away at each other, or we can be courageous and pro active and move to resolve some of the festering issues and resentments that hobble us socially, politically, and economically here in Ward 5 NE.

Is anyone interested in trying a casual meeting just to talk and develop some ground rules of engagement?
