New Report Cards Are Coming
Dear DCPS parents,
Your student's first report card for the year will be reaching you soon. This year we have made some changes to make report cards easier to read and understand based on feedback from families, teachers, and principals. Here are some of the changes:
- The most important information is now summarized right on the front page. Families can get a clear picture of how their child is doing in school right off the bat.
- You should also be able to see if your student is off track.
- The Sign-and-Return form is a great way for families to engage in a conversation with the school. Teachers know the parents have seen the report card and parents can share their reaction.
- We've included more guidance and concrete steps for parents to support their children's learning at home. For example, if student reading levels are listed, parents will also see a suggested list of books for their student.
Your feedback is really important to us. Once you receive your student's report card, please take a moment to send some comments back to your school about how you feel your student is progressing and ask any questions you may have. Request a conference with the teacher if you have additional questions. Reach out to your school if you do not receive a report card by Nov. 17.
