Subject: THANK YOU!!! RE: Thanksgiving

Dear Lt. Glaze and Lt. Carter --

I hope you enjoyed a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  Please know that I receive a lovely "THANK YOU" card from the family in my community for FEMS'/Engine 17's generous Thanksgiving basket.

The card reiterates their family's deep appreciation and gratitude to FEMS' for such thoughtfulness toward families and persons struggling during this challenging economic climate.   I can, myself, attest to the economic impact.

With that, and on behalf of our community, please accept my sincere, humble thank you for FEMS'/Engine 17's unselfish generosity and humanity during this holiday season.

God bless you!

Very kind regards,

Subject: Thanksgiving

Greetings Commissioner Steptoe,

IAFF Local 36 (the Firefighters union) will provide two Thanksgiving baskets to each firehouse that requests them. Each basket contains a turkey and various canned goods to provide a meal. This is a goodwill gesture aimed to provide a meal to 2 families that may be struggling financially or otherwise. Engine 17 would deliver these baskets around noontime on Nov. 24th (this would be Lt. Carter's shift). I expressed to Capt. Bowers that I may be able to locate two families that could benefit from this generous  offer. Before reaching out elsewhere, I thought that maybe you or some of the other Commissioners may already know of  someone who would like to receive this Thanksgiving gift. If so, please let me know and we will facilitate the delivery.

Hope all is well with you. And please remind the citizens, the men and women of Engine 17 are here to serve. Thanks. Charlie. 571.239.4304
