(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Human Resources Division announced the launch of DPR's summer hiring application.  The application can also be found on the DPR Summer Employment page and will remain open through the summer.  This hiring process is continuous, therefore applications will be accepted through the entire summer. DPR strives to provide high quality recreational programming for District residents of all ages, and is looking for talented individuals to join our team.

DPR's Human Resources is offering employment opportunities for the following positions: Aquatics, Camps, Operations and Administrative.

  • Summer Aquatics staff will have the opportunity to be pool managers, assistant pool managers, lifeguards and customer service representatives (CSR's).
  • Summer Camps staff will have the opportunity to be facilitators, assistant facilitators, counselors, activity specialists and more.
  • Summer Operations staff will have the opportunity to be warehouse facilitators, drivers, assistants and more.
  • Summer Administrative staff will have the opportunity to work as associates in a few of the divisions at DPR's Central Office.  Please note, these positions are in an office environment and professional attire is required.

These positions are covered under D.C. Law 15-353, the Child and Youth, Safety and Health Omnibus Amendment Act of 2004, effective April 13, 2005, as amended. For that reason, all selected candidates for hire will be subject to criminal background checks, traffic record checks, or both, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additional information regarding these requirements will be available at each of our recruitment fairs as well as during our new hire orientations.

Please note that the DPR Summer Hire application is not the same at the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) application nor DPR's full time employment opportunities.   Please click here to be re-directed to the SYEP application.  Please visit About DPR to see the various employment opportunities offered at DPR.

For more information, go to DPR Summer Employment page or contact the Human Resources division at (202) 671-1819 or dpr.summer@dc.gov.
