While we may be unclear about the interpretation of the language used, we know the intent is to overturn the will of DC Voters.  Please take a moment to express to our national legislators that you stand strong for the principles of justice, equality and democracy, and therefore strongly disagree with any intent by our national legislators to overturn the will of the people.

Dear Franklin, I'm sure you have heard that the House passed an FY2015 spending bill last night that includes an undemocratic provision to overturn a local DC election. As the attention moves to the Senate, it is important that supporters of DC democracy let Senators know that we will not accept an act by Congress that reverses the will of the people.  Here is what you can do right now: Call the offices of Senator Harry Reid  (202.224.3542) and Senator Barbara Mikulski (202.224.4654). Tell them the votes of Americans in DC should not be ignored by Congress.      Encourage people with contacts in the Senate to urge individual Senators to speak up against the legislative rider that destroys democracy in the District of Columbia. Join activists from across District in the Senate gallery when the Senate moves to vote on the bill. This could occur as early as Friday night, but more likely would occur Saturday.
