Hey all were going the the Cheat! The canyon is rising so if it's above 5ft we'll head to the narrows and put in at Rowlesburg.
This is what the Cheat race does and it's very possible that this will happen the morning of the Cheat race so it's a good thing to prepare.
Well meet at the gas station at Albright and make the call then. -Steve-O

I'm jealous. The Kitzmiller run is a blast! Even if you swim at Rattlesnake there's a huge pool to clean up. If you have a couple of folks in the pool, no one needs to swim.

You'll love it!

Hey all,

I have had a lot of people emailing me about the Kitzmiller after reading the American Whitewater description, if you haven't read it don't. It's not a flattering description.

The Kitzmiller certainly is more continuous than the Cheat, but the Cheat is a harder river. There are holes, but there are holes on the Cheat, you avoid them or punch them head on. The AW description describes ledges and says rattle snake is an 8 foot drop, it's a rapid with a hole at the end, and there are different lines. It's a complicated rapid but easy scout and easy walk.

The line at ledge he describes sounds scary, but there are sneak lines.

All I am crossing my fingers for the Cheat, but know that kitzmiller is a great run.

There are people on this chain that have run it, maybe they can speak up.

Please don't be scared by the AW site. For your reference look at the picture on the Cheat canyon page on AW. Looks terrifying, but you've already done it twice! Don't judge a river based off a website, that's not why we kayak, we kayak to have adventure and thrills. No matter what happens tomorrow you will have both!

Hey Guys,

We are paying close attention to the gauges but it looks like we will not have an answer about whether we can run the Cheat until after the rain tonight. We will not run it if the Cheat Bridge reads above 5 ft.

They are calling for almost an inch of rain in Albright, ending at 9 pm.

According to the Parsons prediction, it will be 3.5 by 6 pm on Saturday

but that could be bumped up by all the creeks coming in downstream. All this is to say, we won't know what the level is until late tonight. If we do not go to the Cheat, the Cheat Regular group will go to Kitzmiller, as super fun, bigger water run.  https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/2429/

Please check this email tomorrow morning! Cheat Elite will receive a separate one from Steve-O with your plan. Please stand by :) My number is 240.507.4141 if anyone needs to call tomorrow.

Thanks! Ashley
