Rob,
First off this has nothing to do with the grand conspiracy to get a white mayor. This is a response to the multiple issues facing the city. This ballot initiative is part of the overall movement to change government for the better.
As your second question, with all respect that question is loaded and speculative. You want to try to slant the discussion by asking such a loaded queations and I'm in no way going to play into that.
As far as the conduct it will be laid out and we as the public will have input as we always do.
As far as the felons issue, it is about time. We need to work on that issue.

Hello Eric,I wonder when all this was thought up. The reason that I ask is that this type of legislation is like many of the rest of legislation passed or letters written -- they are for show and very calculating.1. If the Mayor was to be pulled, then Mendelson steps in as Mayor, followed by a special election. In a special election, Mr. Barry could possibly run and win. This would eliminate him. Whatever your position on this, let's look at the Bigger picture of intent. The reality is that if Mayor Gray was convicted of something, and he served his time, very doubtfully that he would return to run for Mayor again. He probably won't even win without a conviction now so let's pay attention. Our Council has never been a "planner" for things like this unless it benefits them somehow.2. How do you define "gross misconduct". Does someone taking an envelope and then returning it without reporting it count as Gross Misconduct? Is that term already defined? Can we include those who receive benefits from contracts given to Law Firms, Companies whose Board Members or Employees or Campaign super contributors are either on a board or part of the Council, etc. What is Gross Misconduct.3. Is there a concern of a Harry returning? Remember, with all the folks running for office here in Ward 5, it only takes a small percentage to win. What Harry was convicted for is done in so many ways in the Govt. Until they put qualified names in a hat similar to a lottery for contracts instead of the current way or "evaluating companies" - then nothing changes. But, there are lots of persons who are down at the Wilson Bldg and all throughout this City who are intelligent enough to figure this out before now.Hey, at some point, this topical emotional approach needs to be addressed.Rob Ramson

Jerry,
I think that was sort of what was the point behind my post - the legislation has some serious holes in it and I was trying to think of some alternatives. What do you think would be a good alternative to rewrite the legislation in such a way that incorporates your points?
