[WardFive] Re: [ward5] Re: Breaking news

Debbie,

Stay off Kenyan's neck.  The issue is that he has probably never had to hire anyone and run a business all at the same time before.  I am for kicking him in the chins so that he wakes up and smells the coffee before it burns him.  AAA hasn't yet responded because we are stopping and plugging the holes and lent him a spare or two.  He still has time to get it together.

My biggest losses came because I trusted in my "friends" and because my judgement was clouded.  Experience is the most harsh teacher and sometimes necessary.  We will just have to be more diligent and vigilant about securing our assets.

Food for thought!  It was noted in the Ward 5 Heartbeat, how CM McDuffie went around to his colleagues and asked them "their thoughts on his(CM McDuffie) submittal of a proposed resolution of disapproval of the carbarn".  His colleagues informed him that they did not support it.  OF COURSE his colleagues would not support it! Duh... Everyone whose in City Hall knows,  the disapproval resolution is a tactic used to hold up a process to have negotiation powers with your colleagues.  I guess now CM McDuffie knows.

CM McDuffie said during his campaign that he was ready to hit the ground running.  So far, AAA has had to replace CM McDuffie's 4 flat tires twice. I want answers now more so then later.  We deserve to know!!

I can agree with you to a point Tiffany but you need to look at the entire picture.

No you're not wrong!! I just want to know what is CM McDuffie going to do.  It appears as though CM McDuffie is trying to play the get along go along mantra that the citizens of Ward 5 said we are sick of.

I disagree with that assessment. I expect that CM McDuffie's chance of success in opposing this move is probably increased if the community shows up in force to meetings that are called, if it bombards WMATA with feedback on the proposal, etc. Remember that CM McDuffie is new to the council, without the history of relationships built over time that the other CMs have, and that the council itself is in flux due to vacancies and the upcoming citywide elections. Also remember that WMATA isn't under direct control of the DC Council; its board is made up of representatives from DC, MD, VA, and the Federal Government. Finally, note that CM Bowser is on Metro's Board, so her "no" is naturally more effective than CM McDuffie's, who is not.

Rather than going along to get along, I think he's asking the community to have his back as he opposes it, to add weight to his opposition. That seems more like savviness to me. Having a CM does not eliminate our responsibility as citizens to be engaged in voicing our opinions on what goes on in our communities.
