Please remember that all children living in the District must be screened
for lead twice before they turn 3 years of age. Pediatricians are required
to do so during well-child care visits, first between 6 and 14 months of
age, and a second time between 22 and 26 months of age. Parents are
required to furnish a certificate showing that their child under 6 years of
age got screened for lead, if they enroll the child in a licensed day care
center, Head Start or similar early childhood program, including
kindergarten and first grade. For more information, please visit
