January 29, 2013 – Keith Silver, ANC Commissioner (6C01-Retired) announced that the family of Honorable Commissioner Mark Dixon has made the following funeral and public visitation arrangements for Commissioner Mark Dixon. Mark Dixon, served with distinction as ANC Commissioner for 6C02, and Re-Elected, during the last election, to serve in the capacity as newly redistricted 6E ANC Commissioner. He passed away at Washington Hospital Center on January 23, 2013 due to complication from heart bypass surgery on December 19, 2012. He was 70 years old. ALL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT: Mount Airy Baptist Church 1100 North Capitol St. N.E. Washington, D.C. 20002 Wake: Friday 2/1/13 6:30 – 9:00pm Viewing: Saturday 2/2/13 9:00am – 11:00am Service: Saturday 2/2/13 11:00am L. B. West, D.R.S. Gray, MPD Officials, a great Host of DC Elected Officials, and other DC Government Officals, along with National presence of Hon. Dick Gregory, and in his absence, due to prior commitment Honorable Martin Luther King, III, Commissioner Dixon's long-time friend, has submitted his letter which will be read, along with the most diverse cross section of DC Residents, seen in quite some time. Mark, was a native Washingtonian, who was born on February 24, 1942. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, in 1967 and then graduated from St. Augustine North Carolina College in 1971. Mark, was a retired DC Government Official who worked very closely with MPD, D.C.'s Finest ... and served from January 1972 to December 1996. After serving in his DC Government Capacity, he started the next Chapter of his life, and became active in his community as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, ... we he served for a number of terms. ANC 6C-Commissioners, past and present, along with newly formed 6E-ANC Commissioners, where he was about to serve, ... join ANC Commissioners and the thousands of DC Citizens around our great city and nation, ... as we will mourn the loss of one of Washington DC's finest citizens and community activists.
