I.  Graylan Hagler is the Senior Minister for Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ where he has served since 1992

Reverend Hagler's ministry always has been a ministry of social justice, community organizing with a focus on government doing the right thing for its citizens, demanding honesty and integrity from elected officials, and fighting and working for the least in our society.

Reverend Halger pledges, if elected, to:

~ bring to a halt the "pay to play" culture that continues to grip the Wilson Building - specifically to end the lobbyists' greater access to our elected officials than the people who elected them:

~  work to restore citizen access to our elected officials:

~ help create a city of opportunity and justice, where all are welcomed and NONE are neglected:

~ create a DC Government adult protective services system that proactively and effectively protects elderly residents of the District of Columbia Government from neglect, abuse and financial exploitation, including guardianship and conservatorship abuse!

Reverend Hagler has:

~ served as National President of Ministers for Racial, Social and Economic Justice of the United Church of Christ;

~ served on the national board of Witness for Peace and on the administrative board of United for Peace and Justice;

~ helped to found the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation (NACA) which the largest non-profit mortgage and neighborhood stabilization organization in the nation.  Hundreds of thousands of families have been enabled to purchase a home and have been saved from foreclosure by NACA!

II.  Reverend Hagler's work in Washington, DC is characterized by:

~ fighting to rid the District of payday lenders;

~ keeping Congress from imposing the death penalty on the District;

~ working to keep school vouchers out of the District;

~ raising the minimum wage;

~ seeking to make the District's neighborhoods a safe place to live;

~ standing up against the Exxon Corporation after they acquired property at North Capitol and Riggs Road NE to build a super gas station and helping the elderly DC residents obtain affordable housing by building subsidized senior housing (Plymouth @ North Capitol) on the land which offers a home to sixty-nine (69) residents at affordable rents!
