Cheat Racers,

Two weeks after the excitement of the Cheat Race wears off, there is another race on the home river:

 60th Potomac Downriver Race

The 60th running of the Potomac Downriver Race will be held Saturday, May 16th. The race course runs 7.5 miles from below Great Falls to Sycamore Island. The entry fee is $20 in advance, $25 on the day of the race.  

This race is open to all paddlers in all type of boats or boards. Race classes include kayak, canoe and SUP.  Paddlers can race solo or tandem, adult or junior, parent and child, and many more combinations. 

You must be competent in class III whitewater to run this race.

 

All racers must wear a PFD and a helmet. All boats must have flotation. If the Little Falls gauge is above 5 feet, the race will start at Angler's. If the Little Falls gauge is above 6 feet the race will be postponed until the following Saturday.
