Personal Preparedness Initiative Survey

The Personal Preparedness Initiative is designed to assist workers and residents in the District of Columbia and its adjacent communities develop improved strategies to better understand and use information about active threats, associated protective actions, and response options.

The density of population and the many iconic buildings and monuments further intensifies the region’s attraction to violent actors, domestic and foreign. In the aftermath of 9/11 the development of effective strategies for protecting the citizens of the National Capital Region (NCR) from previously unthinkable threats has been a high priority.  New security measures, enhanced response capabilities and advanced notification systems have been put in place by local, state, and Federal entities.

The District of Columbia’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) has developed a Personal Preparedness survey.   Survey responses provide important information to better support regional preparedness efforts.  By completing the Personal Preparedness Survey, you are assisting the region to enhance existing plans and notification procedures thus ensuring workers, residents, and organizations throughout the region are adequately prepared during an event, emergency, and or natural disaster.
