Norton Wants Neighbors' Ideas at Town Hall October 25
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will hold an All-Parks Town Hall on Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the John A. Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Room 412). The meeting will begin with a panel examining how residents can work with the National Park Service (NPS), which owns most of the city's parks, to enliven D.C.'s green spaces and adapt them to the needs of the individual neighborhoods where they are located. The panel members are Steve Whitesell, NPS; David Alpert, Greater Greater Washington Blog; Richard Bradley, Downtown DC Business Improvement District; Catherine Nagel, City Parks Alliance; and Danielle Pierce, Downtown DC Kids. All of the NPS D.C. superintendents will also be on hand.
"At least half the All-Parks Town Hall will go to hearing ideas and questions from D.C. residents on October 25," Norton said. "We hope residents will come with their own suggestions for making their neighborhood parks fit the activities of their neighborhoods. Although chronically underfunded, the NPS has shown a willingness to work with and respond to residents. Our town hall will be successful if residents come ready to participate and engage with NPS officials and the panel."
