Re: [WardFive] Fw: [ward5] Report: D.C. Stinks At Getting Residents Hired in Construction Jobs (Loose Lips)

"But it does make the black people in this country who are jobless and unemployed and standing in the welfare line very much discouraged to see a government that can't solve our problem, can't provide job opportunities for us, and at the some time not only Cubans but Hungarians and every other type of white refugee imaginable can come to this country and get everything this government has to offer."  Malcolm X

"Professor" Ramson,

Thank you for your perspective on this issue which puts Light on another sad commentary which must be responded to when an attempt, no, continued attempts are made to mask one of the tentacles of the current "institutionalized racism" which creates ways to deny bona fide DC residents the opportunity to have gainful employment.

Above is a Malcolm X quote from the 60's related to the dilemma still facing us today, except we/I know our DC Councils/Mayors have been working year after year to correct this problem due to the need to have our residents be able to support our own economy and as much money as possible stay in the District, much the same as other States are now doing with the paradigm shift to an information age global economy.  These efforts have far reaching implications, which for example extend from having a consistent revenue base, to reducing taxes, to lowering the crime rate.

Sticking to the construction industry, this is not mandate on all developers/contractors/sub-contractors, for there are some who do at times, go out of the way to hire DC residents, some who are returning citizens, but as we have seen from our own observations many do not.  At times for example, as with the recent RIA Metro development project (5B Commissioner Regina James), they had to be forced, and we know about Mrs. Norton's diligent efforts with the St. Elizabeth federal project.

However, in facing this challenge, many DC residents have embraced other words of wisdom, empowerment freely given to us by Malcolm X, "just because you are sitting at the dinner table does make you a diner, you must be eating".  This is exactly what people like you, our elected officials, the unions and some business owners are fighting for our DC residents, the opportunity to have direct involvement in the process, not standing by waiting, hoping by chance for any possible leftovers.

BTW, my research on the New Jersey First Act, included talking with the General Counsel overseeing this law, and other elected/appointed New Jersey officials.  I repeated after 1 years of enactment of this law, there has been only one lawsuit, and since the issue was not related to the bill, it is anticipated that the Court will side with the NJ Govt.

As we are mature, intelligent adults here, I am truly concerned about Mr. Jones' attitude on these types of issues, which he seems to want everyone to see/take his "research" as the Bible on the matters, in essence a "self-proclaimed expert, the chosen voice of the industry" since he is a lobbyist for this industry which cannot be challenged.  I can safely say without any research that I am old enough to be his mother, or grandmother, having life experiences including being a child of the Civil Rights movement; breaking down the "Oppressive Walls of Racism" in a particular area, and being the first Black manager in a 75 year old major corporation.  As to my elected position as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, I was the first and so far the only ANC to ever be the DC nominee for the Washington Council of Government's Community Service Award for their work.  Normally, only the Mayor or other elected officials had received this nomination. Though short examples, fully aware that a person doesn't have to only do or provide research to validate their position, life experiences have value.

I love all mankind, but most importantly, I love my own people, African-American, Native American, also have some Dutch in me, which is the same love of own race, culture, etc embraced by other races of people here in America.  Another sad commentary, however, is that we are aware why this "divide and conquer the races" tactics are being used for others to achieve their own self-serving purposes which is Capitalism, which is why we have this challenge.  No secret.  It is also no secret that there are times when one of our own will stand a stand to defend this position of capitalism by appointment or by their own self-appointment (Sheep in wolf's clothing).  Our life experiences have shown that those chosen by appointment are used until they are no longer needed or make a decision to speak up for those in control without their permission (ex, Rep. J.C. Watts)  Spiritual life lessons on the physical plain, which includes trying to come back to the community they continually demeaned, and were ostracized.

As you stated, I understand that this young man, as others of this "Generation X" that have benefitted from the groundwork of the "Baby Boomer Generation" feel/display a sense of "entitlement" with what we clearly know is based on a limited and sometimes flawed knowledgebase which has been basically shaped by a "controlled technology based education" deficient from an unwillingness to respectfully learn the important generational history of the Baby Boomers, which would expand their vision, vital for survival in this world today.

However, I am pleased and proud of those of "Generation X", from many races who have taken advantage by learning directly and indirectly about this generational history.  They are highly respectful of the Baby Boomers and their accomplishments, and personally, are aware of me and show the highest respect.

Like you and others, I am aware of many of them here in DC.  Some work for the Mayor/DC Council, at corporations, non-profits, are young attorneys and in other profession, carving out successful careers that will have a positive impact on how they are perceived in their chosen industries, by their families and in their communities.  This includes lobbyists which due to my experiences with them (without Mr. Jones' approval) do not display the same mindset of Mr. Jones, and should not be lumped with him because of his lack of respect for others opinion or research that he considers "uninformed or just being opinionated".  Sadly, this is truly an example of a case of low self-esteem or a person who is only a follower trying to be a self-appointed leader.

With over 550 people registered on this listserv, I'm sure besides residents, there are not only lobbyists following the posts, but also corporations, government employees, etc, that stay silent to protect their interests, not showing their hands, using the information to gauge public opinion, strategy, marketing etc.  I'm sure they also assess the person, the character of persons posting.  They are intelligent enough to determine who's who and the true value of their words.

I am not aware of Mr. Jones' accomplishments, especially any that have to do with obtaining gainful employment for DC residents, involvement in organizations working to improve the standing of others being denied basic civil rights.

There are words of empowerment that enlighten, "if you can't take the heat, stay out of the fire".
When Mr. Jones' point was not accepted by me and my response shed Light on the matter, his following "deflective avoidance" attempt to characterize me as the one deficient, un-informed, and his follow-ups using derogatory terms to demean my responses and yours (him telling you, "you should stay out of this") for control purposes suggests he is in serious need of counseling before his displayed obsession on this and other related topics along with the need to determine the outcome (takes him over the deep end.

Holding him up in prayer and placing him in the hands of the Infinite, for he is still one of our own.

Eric J,

OK Smart one -- you didn't say anything in your response to Mrs. KPW like this --  that more information would be made available.

This is what you said -- "KPW dont be so fast to trust that document. I cant speak in a great deal of details at this point but there are flat out lies in this report which will likely lead to legal responses from impacted parties".

Which makes one understand the following response by Ms. Ranson --

1.  Follow this -- Commissioner Ransom stated -- "In my personal opinion, based on clear observations and information shared by DC residents with training or just seeking construction jobs removing debris, this report could be considered true".  I think the has that right. Then she went on to describe the underhanded things that Contractors do to circumvent the First Source Law.

2.  The article stated -- A new report, commissioned by the laborers' union -- may not be the angle you support.

So there is nothing wrong with Commissioner Ransom identifying that you get paid to say the opposite and there is nothing wrong with her saying -- "Trying to infuse "FEAR", or "false education appearing as real" doesn't work on those who have their own consciousness. Don't scare easy because they know the truth, not because you say so or those who pay you".

ESPECIALLY when you say "I cant speak in a great deal of details at this point but there are flat out lies in this report which will likely lead to legal responses from impacted parties" --- Next time, just don't say anything -- email Mrs. KPW personally since you respect her so much!!  The Problem with You is that you want folks to see you as you are in the KNOW -- THAT's why you jumped out there to "Caution" Mrs. KPW publically.

What we know is that you are on one side and they are on the other -- and because you flip flop, we don't know what to believe when you open your mouth.  As a matter of FACT -- you should never be one to talk about someone's failed logic.  Your Crap is so skewed that it is embarassing and the problem is that Whites actually look at you as "representative" of the Educated Young African American Population -- and there are so many out here who are so better positioned/utilize their education more efficiently who would be a much better to be viewed (not saying you are a bad person - but your language and probably because of your profession is not what Whites should use as a barometer of other educated young African Americans.

Allow me to give you your most recent example of FLAWED LOGIC:

"Never mind the fact that her example of taking cars full of people to job sites is destined to fail because it is common knowledge that on most construction sites in the Mid-Atlantic and North East which would include the place she now serves in Ward 5, her previous SMD in Ward 6 and her original home of New York that most hires aren't done at the job site".

WHAT ABOUT THE TIMES THAT THEY ARE??  You see, you DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO need training.  Most of the rest of the Crap you wrote is like a LONG WINDED WORD PROBLEM -- WORDS JUST TO THROW THE READER OFF.

If you don't get it, that is exactly what she meant when she said --- from another angle -- you think others are so inferior.  WE SEE YOU and TRUST ME, someone needs to allign your brain.

So you get it, most LEADERS have folks who do research and they follow up after reading and meshing their experience and knowledge of the subject.

As to your accomplishments -- Eric, without doubt -- you have done some things in your life.  But please go back to the equation that I wrote earlier and understand some of the most dangerous people to the FUTURE of the Black Race right now is the "newly educated" and "the dirt under my toe-nail worth of experience" Black Men like the you's -- A Sheep in Wolf's clothing!

MORE young Blacks do much less than they should be doing to honor the work that their predecessors did and the horror and hardship that folks lived through to get us the privileges we so often take for granted. Like I said, infuse some more vertebrae into that backbone of yours -- you might just stand tall enough to "SEE" what I am talking about.

So you get it, because I can't teach you in person, thanks very much for reading -- as you leave each time with a few extra pieces of Knowledge that I pass on to you --- I DON'T GET PAID FOR THIS TIME I SPEND WITH YOU and I am not looking for anything in return other than a better place than now for my CHILD and other CHILDREN to grow up in and into.  So you get it, My COMMENTS actually costs me MONEY and takes time away from what I could be doing -- But I CHOOSE wisely to spend this time with with online education -- it's the new wave of educating and motivating the Masses.

As for the my "RACIAL" attacks -- Here is my answer -- I didn't forget that Stupid "gentrification/gentrifiers" spew you were on a few months ago and not even knowing the definition of the words.  And I sure didn't forget the Stupid comments a about "bowtie"/Suit vs. sweatshirt/Hoodie comments.  You are rediculously pacifying Whites at times with those DUMB comments -- it is bad propaganda for business and it allows for the Jim "Crow" TURNERS on the listservs to be VALIDATED!!!

Now -- you can deflect the conversation with inferring that I am "Racist" but allow me to tell you and whoever else is reading -- I am proud of WHO I AM and the Culture that I was Born/Raised into as well as the One who has embraced ME and I Want Others to Understand that They are not Better, Smarter, More Decent, More "right", more "Privileged", More "Entitled" more anything than I because they are not.  Identifying the BS that gets thrown out here on these Listservs is not being RACIST -- I suggest you get that attitude as well.

Do you even read what you write at times -- how many times do I and others have to correct you??  Did you even just realize that I saved your neck by only focusing on the last paragraph that Commissioner Ransom wrote.  It is that DUMB logic of yours that put your neck on the chopping block.

I am sorry -- I comprehend what I read and don't get confuse by the garbage around the variables.

Rob,

You really should' have stayed away from this conversation but that isn't like you.  The fact of the matter is that the Commissioner jumped out there and wanted to lodge a full frontal attack on me because I simply warned KPW (someone who I truly respect and consider a friend) that she should be mindful that there were incorrect statements in a report which she spread.  I didn't want her to be linked to pushing a faulty report which was produced by a group for personal gain not to actually discuss issues.  I then said that I couldn't speak in full detail about it at the time but that more information would be made available.

In turn the Commissioner decided to lodge a full personal attack on me which had nothing to do with my statement instead of being an adult and asking a follow up questions.  She then dug deeper by typing a bunch of unsubstantiated, uninformed bullshit which she tied to mask with a personal attack.  My simple response to her was that she should do her research before speaking on an issue and I left it at that but again she wanted to bring up bad examples of a program in New Jersey which comes from a program which was originally thrown out by the U.S. Supreme Court and then further attack me for not being an uninformed poverty pimp like her.  Never mind the fact that her example of taking cars full of people to job sites is destined to fail because it is common knowledge that on most construction sites in the Mid-Atlantic and North East which would include the place she now serves in Ward 5, her previous SMD in Ward 6 and her original home of New York that most hires aren't done at the job site for safety reasons but at  off site locations.  But then again if she couldn't show her failed logic it wouldn't have helped her to try to make her case for not doing her research.

Then of course you jump up to support her uneducated and uniformed statements all the while holding her out as an educated and intelligent role model.  Further you try to tie in your constant example of how you try to teach and mentor any young person in this ward who seems to have more information then you by telling them what to do all the while by attempting to use them as a researcher so that you much like the Commissioner don't have to do any actual research.  This sir is a poor example of leadership and if this is what you call trying to teach me and the others you have given this same speech to sir, I like the majority of them must respectfully decline.

As to your personal attack sir much like Ms. Ransom's it is truly laughable considering that many of the things which I have been able to accomplish you have tried to mirror.  Sir it is great to know that you both have to result to childish bully tactics because you can't have a real discussion with someone who you both apparently are smarter than.  I will continue to keep that under advisement.

Finally as to your continued racial attacks they don't warrant a response.
