When last week I reported on the atempted Golden Eagle snatching of the small child on my block, Animal Control and myself thought that the eagle may have mistaken the child for a rat or squirrel, and this was not normal behavior. The eagle next did shortly thereafter fly over the fence of the Brookland Ridge Apts wooded area and grabbed a squirrel, flew away.
Well, while watching Good Morning America today, they shared a video taped in Montreal Tue, 12/18/12 of a Golden Eagle attempting to snatch a small child. GMA hosts confirmed it was not a hoax, especially being able to track the eagle flying above, then down below in real time. I also looked at a video of another Golden Eagle actually attacking a boy in Mongolia, April, 2011.
What happened here in DC may not have been an aberration. See for yourself.
