...End the Year in a Spirit of Generosity!
As we come to the close of another year it is not too late to consider a gift to the church. As a new year is about to begin consider all of the ways that God has brought you through 2012, and that you have weathered whatever storms by the grace of the Lord. The Lord has brought you through, and for some offered new beginnings, such as employment and other milestones such as birthdays. Maybe there has been the arrival of a child or grandchild? Maybe medical issues have been overcome, and if not overcome the ability to deal with them effectively. There have been many good things. Give the glory to God and show God the gratitude by giving to your church.
We have made it easier for you to generously support your church and it's just a click away! We have set-up secure on-line giving and you can sign up to support your church even when you are not in worship (of course we would like for you to be in worship).
Worship Services
Join us at Plymouth Congregational UCC this Sunday at our 8 am or 11 am worship services. The teaching subject this week is "It All Works Out!"and the scripture lesson is from Luke 2:25-40. Rev. Graylan S. Hagler, Senior Pastor will be preaching.

Watch-Night Service December 31, 2012 at 10:30 pm
This year we have a exciting and spiritual Watch-Night Service planned. There will be music, dancing, litanies, testimony, prayers and preaching. This is a good way to say bye to the old year as we greet a new one. To enhance our fellowship there will also be a potluck supper served in the social hall prior to service beginning at 9:30 pm.
Also, if you are in need of a ride to the church on New Year's Eve and would like to be picked up by the church van, please call the church office at 202.723.5330.
NEW YEAR'S EVE FELLOWSHIP SUPPER – FLOCK (For Love of Christ's Kingdom), along with Faith United Church of Christ will sponsor the Annual New Year's Eve Fellowship Supper on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Plymouth. The menu will include the traditional southern meal and vegetarian dishes. If you wish to donate a food item (don't forget the dessert), kindly notify Juanita Cooper at (202-635-1957) or e-mailjboydcooper@verizon.net . Bring your dish to the Social Hall no later than 9:00 p.m. Fellowship Supper will begin promptly at 9:30 p.m. Service will begin at 10:30 p.m. Monetary donations are accepted to supplement the budget. Prayers...
We ask that you pray for the families of the church who are experiencing health issues with their loved ones at this time. Please pray prayers of thanksgiving as you end the old year and enter into a new one. Please keep our Building Manager, Jimmy Fowler in your prayers. He is in Washington Hospital Center. KeepRhett Lucas in your prayers. Pray for Mary McKinney as she recovers; she is home with her family and can be reached through her daughters. Pray for William Wallace as he continues to recover at home. We continue to also pray for Lydia Chestnut, Florence McDaniels, Donna Weems, Verneda Jackson, Aretha Freedman, and Beatrice Sorrell. Hold them in your prayers. There are certainly others to pray for, and as we pray as a church we know that collective and constant prayers changes things. If there are others, and there surely are, that you want to make us aware of please feel free to do so. Pray without ceasing!
Condolences...
Condolences are also extended to the family of Thomas Bender who passed on Wednesday December 19, 2012. A memorial service is planned after the New Year. Details will be announced when they become known.
Thank You...
The staff at Plymouth Church would like to thank you for your generous gift to us this year. In this time of economic uncertainty we were all very much in awe and humbled. Again, thank you..

On lastSunday December 23rd, we experienced our Sunday School's Christmas Pageant at 10 am and then our Service of Song and Celebration at the 11 am service. We enjoyed the sounds and moods of the Advent-Christmas season. The Service of Song theme, "Precious Jesus" was moving as our choirs took us to higher ground in a celebration of Christmas, and as the choirs sang Rev. Isaac Solomon Lawson narrated scripture complimenting the music. The choirs were spectacular and the service was moving!
On Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2012 at 7 pm we enjoyed Bobby Felder and Friends as he blessed us and the community with a Christmas Jazz Gospel Celebration. Christmas Eve at Plymouth was bright, beautiful, moving and merry! There was a a sing a-long, and voices and music were joined together for a Christmas Eve to be remembered and enjoyed. To see an excerpt of the gala please click here!
On December 8, 2012 Brigette Rouson and LaMar Wilson exchanged Nuptials at Howard Divinity School. Rev. Hagler officiated the wedding.
