COMMUNITY ALERT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 6, 2013
DC Government Offices Will Be Closed Today
Washington, DC -- The District of Columbia Government Offices will be closed today, Wednesday March 6, 2013. Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie's staff will continue to provide updates as often as possible through community listservs and our Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The significant amount of snowfall in the forecast creates the possibilities of hazardous road conditions. City officials asked that you keep road travel to a minimum to avoid accidents and to allow emergency vehicles to travel safely without complication. WMATA has announced that certain commuter bus routes will be cancelled today. Residents can check WMATA's bus alerts page for updates.
Wet heavy snow brings the possibilities of power outages. Be prepared for long standing power outages. You should maintain an excess of food, water, medications and pet supplies.
Councilmember McDuffie would like to remind all residents that the most effective way to report an outage or downed wire is to call Pepco's Call Center at 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662). Residents can also download the Pepco mobile app at www.pepco.com/mobileapp. To have trees or debris removed and all other non-emergency issues, call the Mayor's Citywide Call Center at 311 or to go to snow.dc.gov.
