cheat_training_group camera for sale (NOT waterproof, however)

Hey Cheat paddlers –

Before I put this on Craig’s List, I thought I’d throw it out to my paddling friends:  I’m selling my Panasonic Lumix LX5, a small but sophisticated point-and-shoot with a Leica lens and additional optical viewfinder attachment.   http://www.panasonic.net/avc/lumix/compact/lx5/index.html  Paid $588 in 2011, am selling for $200.  Fits nicely in a micro Pelican 1030 case.

If anyone is interested, email me OFF LIST at Irene@ireneowsley.com.

Thanks,

Irene

Subject: One last word about Cheat Training from Tom

Dear Cheat Trainers,

Wednesday is the first day of Cheat Training, Thursday for Youth and Lite.   Are you ready with some warm clothes? We try to keep every workout as continuous and possible, so that you will stay warm and comfortable.  Dry suits and warm layers are recommended.

The idea behind Cheat Training is to build your conditioning, strength and white water skills and to familiarize yourself with the Cheat River.  This is to prepare you for the Cheat Race, and the season of paddling that follows.  Every day is critical to moving you forward and stepping up your  boating capabilities.  That is why we are encouraging you not to miss any workout, and if that is impossible, that you make up every workout on your own.

We ask you to always be paddling with a partner, especially during those times when you may not be in the company of an instructor.   Our instructors will be stationed along the way at the more difficult places to attain with the purpose of showing you how to do the attain and to give you tips on your stroke.

Every attainment day a little after sunset (6 PM this Wednesday), we all turn down stream and race to the Anglers take-out.

On Saturdays we will meet in the morning at the Sycamore Island take-out to run shuttle.  We will divide into groups according to your anticipated speed.  Staff will remind you of the essentials of a good forward stroke, and how to follow the fastest line down the current.

The first couple of workouts are always the most difficult ones, because your arms will feel dead, and you will be gasping for air.  The most important is to keep yourself moving throughout the entire workout.

Cheat Lite and Cheat Training for Youth will take a similar approach with changes according to the discretion of your leader.

It is always exciting to begin this new year of paddling.  Follow through with it and you will not be disappointed with the way you will feel in your boat by the end.

  Happy Paddling,    -   Tom McEwan
