Jeremy,
You really want to see / "comprehend" what you want to and then throw baseless propaganda ot there to label me just because you don't like what I say and how I say it; but fair folks see/understand what I am saying.
Did Abe Polin and the City build a dog park over there in China Town or am I missing something??
So you get it, I really don't have an issue with "new" residents - which I am sure you are probably inferring moreso to "White" and trying to label me racist -- but that's ok too. Whatever floats your boat!! You and the rest who want create that propaganda, can keep trying that BS - it really doesn't matter to me. I am just going to tell you like it is - tow the line unless you and the rest feel your dogs are more important than our kids. Until we have attempted to rectify all that has been stolen/given away from our kids over the years, I suggest that any money that can go towards them, folks who never was given a chance and our seniors is money well spent and owed to them -- like that 40 acres and a mule analogy!!
As to me wanting to encourage "new" residents to leave, try again. Sad to say this but it seems like when mostly new Whites and some Black folks move into the neighborhood (what you might call community) property value seem to go up even if we don't have dog parks. We do seem to have more police presence, side walks get fixed, we get new schools and our streets get cleaned/plowed - so as a property and business owner, why would I want you and other "new" residents to ever leave? So, there is your wasted "AAAAAAAHHH!" moment. Please cue/clue in. AND furthermore, Folks are not leaving this city if we don't give them DOG PARKS.
The issue that you are having with my logic is that as much as I love dogs and see the enjoyment they get from running as well as appreciate the rise in property value, I don't sit quietly when you do things like put your wants and what you refer to as to the "needs" of your dogs in front of of our kids.
As to your increased foot traffic, no doubt it helps. However, can "new" people create foot traffic without having Dog Parks?? Can those taxes be used to just build Playgrounds and Rec. Centers and put off Dog parks for later?? So you know that after a certain hour, that foot traffic pattern will die down and the same criminals who attack mostly because of their lack of education and ability to qualify for jobs, hooked on drugs or whatever, -- those same ones will adjust their crime time to a more opportune time to lessen apprehension -- like when some person is walking home alone late. But you won't get that until it happens to someone you know or even you.
So you get it, education and proper socialization helps to prevent the creation of criminals while increase foot traffic is more of a deterrent -- I think the health slogan focuses a lot more on PREVENTION!! You should be concerned about folks "health" and not your wants / your dog's "needs"!!! So you know, I seen purses snatched in the middle of rush hour and read about home invasion occurring (committing crimes while folks are home) in broad daylight!! Go figure -- maybe if those folks could qualify for a job, they would have something more proud of than to be involved in instead of committing Crimes!!
Anyways fella, Good Luck to You and Yours!! Hope you get this part "Straight"!!
Rob Ramson
