Jonathan, if your using the MIT address as a primary email, then you are using an outlook client. http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/2262383/microsoft-adds-twofactor-authentication-for-outlook-skype-and-skydrive

The process works under a double id method. As it stands now you only need your password to access your account. Think of the authentication as an ATM card, now anyone wanting to access your account needs your login password and the authentication code. It just adds one more step to hacking your stuff. There are many settings for different providers so I'm not positive about the specifics, if your crazy like me you could use a service like last pass(www.lastpass.com)  which generates and stores advanced crypto passwords to help your online banks etc stay safe.

If you have any questions I'll try and help. Please email me directly at xlovatt@gmail.com

Sneaky enough Sandrine?

Jonathan, go ahead and click. Its not risky because it comes with a
personal message from Xan that is not "suspicious". The link is to a
webpage with instructions for setting up two-step sign in procedures
for various e-forms (gmail, facebook, twitter, etc.).

Thanks Xan!
