[WardFive] Re: [ward5] Re: Fwd: Brookland Middle School Meeting presentation link

This a school being built adjacent to a Rec. Center -- both for our kids and for the community to be able to utilize for various reasons - OVER THE NEXT 50 YEARS -- whatever the cost - it should be part of any plan.  Maybe a genius will surface and figure all of that out.  I remember the initial pictures that they showed with the entire Renovation of Turkey Thicket grounds -- like I said -- dog and pony show!!

I missed the last meeting or two.

Has underground parking been totally ruled out or is that something that can be put into play?  There is another enormous District surplus so it seems like a  million or so could be obligated for parking.

All this is a ploy.  They really don't care if anyone comes out as long as they can say that we held the meetings.  If it was up to DCPS, they would have attached the School to Turkey Thicket's building to shaft the kids with a co-use gym and taken our actual Park Property under their inventory.

Let's be real -- who the hell puts up a Middle School on a parcel of land with only two usable neighborhood streets to park without providing proper Parking and then call it a State of the Art "Middle School" without a Football/Soccer/Track/etc. facility??

This crap is horrible!!

KPW - great point actually and I agree with you on that point. The last
community meeting was held at Woodridge library which may have been a
ploy on their part to engage others. I will say that Turkey Thicket
is a good choice since it is the site of the schooland, even though it
is relatively close for me, I do like seeing some of the various places
around the ward and I do think it allows for others in the community to
participate without having to travel so far. Some folks have kids and
tight schedules etc. I think there is a perception for many that this
is a school for Brookland and I think for others, they see it as a
school for a bunch of other kids coming to Brookland.

list of community stakeholders. After all, Michigan Park, North Michigan
Park, Woodridge, Queens Chapel, and others are nearby the school. In the
future, I hope that salutations include more than the Brookland
Community. Just a pet peeve with me.
