Seabury at Home First to Host Annual Yard Sale Friendraiser
To celebrate the upcoming summer months, the Advisory Council of Seabury at Home First will host its second annual Yard Sale Friendraiser from 9am - 3pm on Saturday, June 15.
The Friendraiser, held at 2501 18thSt. NE, Washington DC, will feature items for sale such as household appliances and clothing. Proceeds benefit Home First's residential housing for low income older adults and its Age-In-Place® program, a volunteer-based, cleaning and yard work service that assist seniors with maintaining their homes. Summer is the busiest time for Age-In-Place as there are many lawns to mow and gardens to weed so that older adults can stay more safely at home. Age-In-Place expects to complete over 180 service projects this summer. "The work that Age-In-Place® does is what places it high on the list of reasons why seniors can stay in their homes and happy. The program is a special help." --Ms. A., Age-In-Place client
In addition to the yard sale, there will be music, food, and several guided tours highlighting Home First's senior living which provides a home to formerly homeless older adults. The event not only raises money for the Age-In-Place® program but increases awareness of the need to create housing options for persons over 60 who have experienced homelessness or are living on a low to moderate income.
