[WardFive] Your feedback is needed to improve education in DC

Hello Ward 5!

On last week several pieces of legislation were introduced to the DC Council by three Councilmembers. Although this legislation has been introduced things are not yet a done deal - now is the time to give our feedback!

On our website we have posted all of the legislation and how you can give your feedback on each piece of legislation - http://w5coe.org/policy-and-legislation/. We are urging everyone in our community to take a moment to review the legislation and give feedback! It only takes a moment.

Policy and Legislation

On June 4th Councilmember Catania introduced seven education bills to the Council for consideration. All seven of the bills have now been posted on his website at http://www.davidcatania.com/schoolreform. Now is our opportunity to be heard BEFORE this legislation is voted on! On CM Catania's website there is an opportunity to leave your feedback regarding his proposals and we urge all of Ward 5 to take the time to not only review the plan but also give your detailed feedback! This is a MUST, we cannot let this legislation move forward without letting the Council know how we feel. Give your feedback today!

In addition to CM Catania's legislation, CMs Wells and Bowser also introduced two pieces of education legislation last week for the Council's consideration. Both pieces of legislation have very strong foundations and intentions but they need to hear our feedback to ensure that this legislation is exactly what our community needs.

CM Wells' proposed bill – Shared Use of School Property in the District Act of 2013:
For feedback contact CM Wells office - http://www.dccouncil.washington.dc.us/council/tommy-wells

CM Bowser's proposed bill – Free Transportation for Students Amendment Act of 2013
(this would be an amendment to the School Transit Subsidy Act of 1978 and the District Department of Transportation Establishment Act of 2002 to provide free Metrobus and DC Circulator transportation to students on regular school days.)
For feedback contact CM Bowser's office -
