Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW) is gearing up for it Teen Arts Performance (TAP) 2013 at Michigan Park Christian Church located in Ward 5 (July 22 – August 9, 2013), and would like your help sharing this opportunity with the community.
TAP was launched in 2007, by Tony Small, BGCGW Regional Director to serve as a regional performance and visual arts troupe for BGCGW's clubs and to provide ongoing multidisciplinary arts training, exposure and performance for middle and high school youth with a keen interest in the arts. Program participants attend sessions and master classes taught by renowned artists.
This summer, we will continue our work of training middle and high school youth in musical theater, ballet, visual arts, and production design. Participants will collaborate with professional artists on the world premiere of Endangered!, a new musical with Book & Lyrics created by Keni Fine, and Music & Orchestration created by Tony Small – both alums of the Tony Award Winning BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.
Participants will perform at the following:
· Fort Dupont Park Jazz Festival
· The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage
· Michigan Park Christian Church
In addition to the arts conservatory training being offered, participants will spend four days exploring physical science and electricity through our partnership with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) funded by GlaxoSmithKline.
Auditions are being held at Michigan Park Christian Church located 1600 Taylor Street NE, Washington, DC 20017 on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 6pm-8pm. To audition, please RSVP to Damion Parran, BGCGW Arts Administrator at dparran@bgcgw.org<mailto:dparran@bgcgw.org>, or via phone at (202) 540-2345.
