Jones Ser., the President and CEO of the D.C. small business of the year, Capitol Energy Group, about how he learned to succeed as a small business owner in the District of Columbia. The fair, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. atthe Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place NW), will begin with a one-hour plenary session that in addition to Jones will include remarks from Norton and Small Business Administration Director Antonio Doss. Then, D.C. small business owners and residents can participate in workshops and one-on-one counseling from a wide array of experts and government agencies. The Small Business Fair is open to the media. (1) For loans, banks and other lenders will be on-site to provide micro-loan applications and other financial assistance. (2) For government procurement, federal government agency procurement officers will be on site with small business procurement opportunities available in the next quarter. (3) For legal advice, D.C. pro-bono and other attorneys will be on site to offer advice on business structure, licensing, liability, and other business-related legal concerns. (4) Accounting and tax experts will provide advice. (5) Insurance experts will offer information on how to insure facilities and fixed assets, workers compensation, and other insurance matters. (6) Marketing experts will provide advice on how to market a small business. (7) For capacity building, experts will provide insight on how to grow a small business.The workshops, led by business experts, will cover the following six topics.
