[WardFive] Announcing Langdon Park Community Association

Dear Neighbors,

A number of residents of Langdon Park (a subdivision of Woodridge) like myself have been going door-to-door, meeting with neighbors to better understand our collective concerns and desires for the community. In total we have spoken with over 50 households – and still growing. It has been very positive experience – we now have a much better grasp of the most urgent issues that neighbors would like to see resolved, as well as just how committed so many of us are to making Langdon Park a safe, vibrant and thriving community it deserves to be.

To help address the unique needs and desires of Langdon Park residents, I am excited to announce the formal launch of the Langdon Park Community Association. By forming this Association, we will be able to implement solutions more efficiently and be a more effective advocate for the neighborhood on the issues you care most deeply about.

A few weeks ago we hosted a small initial meeting with some of the residents we have spoken with so far to share what we learned, gather ideas for solutions and identify immediate next steps to make the neighborhood even better. We had strong attendance (20+ residents) and a lot of excitement about addressing major issues of concern (e.g. day- and night-time parking, litter, nightclubs) and organizing fun neighborhood activities (block parties/cookouts, movie nights, sporting events).

If you would like to learn more about the Association and play an active role in improving the neighborhood, please contact me at jennifer.gerholdt@gmail.com. I am happy to add you to our listserv to get you plugged in with our initial efforts and connected with other like minded neighbors who are passionate about driving real results and positive outcomes for the neighborhood.

Finally, mark your calendars for Saturday June 27, 10am-12pm, when our next community meeting will be held. More information including the venue and agenda will be provided shortly. Please make every effort to attend to ensure the entire community is represented and your perspectives and desires heard. A mailing to the entire 600+ Langdon Park residents will go out in the next week about the Association, upcoming meeting, and other announcements.

I hope you are excited about this new effort as much as we are! We look forward to meeting you, if we haven't already, and working with you.

Warm regards from the coordinators of your Langdon Park Community Association,

Jennifer Gerholdt
