 | It is no secret that enrollment rates for African Americans in colleges and universities continue to increase. The problem however, is the low percentage of attainment of a four-year college degree for these students. The USBC intends to do our part, and ensure that one of our core principles, Access to Capital, is not one of the barriers hindering the increasing number of graduates in our communities. This year we will launch the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. Scholarship Fund to assure that a current business school college enrollee has the opportunity to advance and earn their degree. Eligible students must be of African American descent, demonstrate a financial need, and maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average. Our commitment to higher education is fundamental to our long term success of investing in the next generation of Black business owners in the United States. This year's signature event will not only highlight our first scholarship recipient, but will also celebrate the journey to success, and commitment to African American business by honoring Cathy Hughes, with our first ever Lifetime Legacy Business Award. |
| SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS: For consideration to win a U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. scholarship, applicants must submit a 500 -1000 word essay describing what you see as your journey to business success. Eligible students must: - Be a business student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Have junior year credit hours
- Be of African American descent
- Demonstrate a financial need
- Have a current 3.0 grade point average.
