[WardFive] Re: [ward5] Re: DCPS Clarification on Spingarn SHS

Dear Jared,

Thanks for taking a few steps towards compassion and .......  THIS is the type of movement that a this "cyber bully" knows that occurs once information seeps into the brains -- you either dig in or you evolve.  We prefer the latter since we understand that not everyone gets the opportunity of learning true "African American" History!! and the effects.

Now -- Think about ADHD -- so many of our kids are automatically diagonized with this.  We don't want our kids to be misdiagnosed.  There are many White kids who don't want to do their school work and they get things like tutoring, after school help, food, shelter from early childhood when learning is most important  - who are really "homeless" for more than a few months with two parents when they are 12.

Also, We have such a Technical School in that Cluster already - it's called Phelps.

Now, what I want you to re-focus on is widening your vision to understanding the access of Olympic Swimming Pool with Diving Capabilities that I have been impressing where our kids have a wider opportunity than just football and track.  As naturally athletic as so many Black kids are - it is possible that we could have many Black Olympic Swimmers representing America!!

Same with Golf -- a long walk in on such beautiful landscape brings one closer to nature and would allow our kids the opportunity to at least grow appreciating our "green world" and maybe produce more with the skills of a Tiger Woods! And even if they fall short, it would be easy to pick up the game later in life and socialize in an environment dominated by Whites. So you know, most people don't try because they don't want to be embarassed -- and so you know, lots of people who are in the "labor" professions play golf -- because they have been exposed at an early age.

We don't want our kids to be limited in any manner.  Who knows, the right environment or the right activity or the opportunity to burn up excess abundance of sugar might settle "these" same kids down enough to teach them how to read, rite, rithmatic, music, art, phys ed, enjoyable environment and good food!!  I will take it, but I don't need all that extra stuff like "chinese and spanish" and engineering, etc until I can get the basics ingrained in their head.

Now that you are willing to be open to opportunity -- let's really open up. This is the school cluster that they should be creating for all our kids -- even White ones from West of the park will want to want to travel to.

Like I said -- it is truly amazing to me how VISIONLESS and WASTEFUL our MAYOR and CHANCELLOR are when it comes to creating education for the future.  Maybe since you are White -- they might listen to you as an emerging convert to compassion and ..........!

By the way, I understand why you and many of the rest don't use the delete button and I am banking on it.  You think you are going to get that "AHA, I told you he was racist" moment -- but I know that the more you read, the more information you take in, eventually your thoughts will grow on its own - that's how a rational human brain works. Thanks for reading the Cyber Bullying Network!!

I'm starting to think maybe I'm misunderstanding what a technical/trade school is. My understanding was that those kinds of schools offer everything a regular highschool does, *plus* the opportunity to get advanced education in a particular field.

In this case, it would give students the knowledge to potentially get a career right out of high school (This isn't to say I don't think students who go to Spingarn shouldn't go to college, but I understand that college isn't right/desired by everybody, and I think it would be great for people to have the ability to get a decent job without having to spend all that money on college if they don't want to. Emphasis on "if they don't want to." A college education should always be an option for anybody who wants it and is willing to work for it.)

I thought a tech school didn't limit people to working in whatever that field is either. It doesn't prevent students from going to college or eventually working in any of the other excellent fields you mention. In fact, the extra education they receive could actually give them a leg-up in their applications to colleges, and the first-hand experience could spark an interest in a huge variety of related fields (including things like public administration, for instance.)

That sounds to me like a thing that does broaden horizons, the very opposite of limiting, and it could help draw students back to the school. It sounds like High School+. Much better than a plain-jane HS.

I don't think the idea at all is to use students as some underage, free workforce for the streetcars. The idea seems to be to utilize the resources the city has to contribute to the education of students. That sounds like a really smart move, to me.

But, am I totally misunderstanding what a tech/trade school is? I really don't understand all the opposition to the potential for a huge investment to turn Spingarn into a state-of-the-art school with advanced opportunities when so many other schools in the city are flat-out closing. I'd think we should be rallying to support it and making our leaders guarantee it will happen, that the school will get the funding, that it will re-open.
