Re: [ward5] Fwd: [WardFive] Ward 5 School Closings

Mrs. KPW -

I am kind to her because I can see good people when it is in them.  Some of these folks on the list serve have goodness that you have to dig deep to wrench out because they are chained down with selfishness and self absorbness.  Kaya has always had goodness in her right there at the brim.  I expect that she like many others in life who will make mistakes but I also understand taking over from someone like a Rhee and having to ween oneself away from the strings -- strings that control this United States of America -- that ain't easy.  I hope that she has a surprise for us and has actually started to circumvent the direction that Rhee had set us on.

Try turning the flow of a broken water main and still maintaining water pressure -- it is difficult. Like I said, arguing points to assist with the parameters and perspective can only spur thought and help all around.  I don't mind the backlash that might come from me highlighting the proper perspective.

We will see the method to her "madness" soon enough.

You're kinder to the chancellor than you are to people on the listserv.  Most political folks are sincere and caring on the surface and the common agenda is said to be the children.  Yes, I'm cynical and people become suspect.  I'm not saying Henderson is not any of that good stuff.  I'm not sure who calls the shots in D.C. and have observed that in many cases it is not the general public.  Who tells Henderson what is the bottom line and what is acceptable?

Also, some people might not be running in 2014 and might let some things slip by without a discernible, strong fight.  People are starting to prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas and here there's a fight for the schools and the children of D.C.

Hello everyone,

I spoke to Kaya in the parking lot of Giant yesterday and she mentioned that her concern was to get the Money to the students and to educate them.  Also, she also stated that she is not for getting rid of our real estate and has plans for their re-use.  I believe her - she sounded very sincere - let's see how those re-use plans include our retention of our buildings.

Like I said -- I know she cares and I know that she is an intelligent woman.  Oh, she said that she has everything that one would need to understand her decisions and we will have to wait and see.  That we owe her. Just want everyone to understand that attrition works both ways!!

I am really interested in how this IFF study played a role in her decisions.  If you are confused by this support for Kaya, understand that I am arguing points so that we do have parameters to work within.

Thanks Jackie,

I've been told, from a few people, that Spingarn will be closed for one year to renovate and transform into a comprehensive vocational/career technical school. If you hear anything similar or different, please share.

Good afternoon all,

In responses to  the listserv conversation, the official list  from DCPS has not gone out and will be released at 4:00pm. Let's give them an opportunity to share the information first and I encourage everyone to attend the DCSP community meeting and hearings.
