cheat_training_group Downriver Paddle

Hi Cheaters,

Thanks for a really fun first attainment on Wednesday!  For those who couldn't make it, it was a briefing of the Cheat experience.  The weather subsided throughout the day and we only had a light drizzle when we put on in the waning sunlight. The level was about 4.25 which was pretty challenging for all... except Eric Colbert who enjoyed Rocky all by himself :) We had to turn downstream pretty quickly and made it to Anglers in almost complete darkness.  Next week we will have an hour more light and, hopefully, a few extra degrees... although I didn't hear of anyone who was too cold.

This Saturday we will meet at Sycamore Island- this is a parking area off of Clara Barton near Glen Echo.  You will see a twisting footbridge that leads from MacArthur (do not confuse it with Lock 5 where there is another twisting footbridge).  If you are coming from Anglers, it is just beyond the divide where Clara Barton closes in the afternoons and you are redirected to MacArthur. Please be geared up and ready to go at 9:30am.  If you get lost or confused along the way, my cell number is below.  We will set shuttle and head up to Great Falls to run the nine miles back to our cars.  Hurray for the extra water that will help us along!

Please be sure that your long boat has airbags and that you wear warm clothes.  The air will be warmer but the water is still in the 40s.

See you tomorrow!

Thanks,

Ashley McEwan
