Norton to be in Southeast D.C. at Tonight's "Government to Go"
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will be on hand this evening, Tuesday, August 28, 2012, for her office's "Government to Go" constituent services office hours at the Safeway at 2845 Alabama Avenue, SE from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Norton's "Government to Go" brings her constituent services staff into neighborhoods in every ward, where they offer District residents assistance and advice on a range of federal benefits and issues, from Social Security and veterans' benefits to Norton's D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) program to the Affordable Care Act, whose benefits are rapidly becoming available. "With Congress on recess, I get a chance to go for the office hours my office holds once a week in the community, at public venues like supermarkets and community organization sites," Norton said. "Many residents who need our advice and help on federal benefits and issues cannot take time off to get to our constituent services offices in Northwest or Southeast. Bringing our trained caseworkers to the community gives residents the opportunity to get one-on-one advice while they are shopping or out in the neighborhood."
Community organizations or commercial sites that would like "Government to Go" office hours at their sites should call Norton's District Office staff at (202) 783-5065.
