Dear Ward 5 parents and others concerned about education,

 

This is to inform you about plans to assemble a School Improvement Team (SIT) for the planned Brookland Arts and Language Middle School (grades 6-8), scheduled to open in August 2014.

 

What does the SIT do?

 

- Discuss the development of the new Middle School

- Discuss the development of educational specifications ("ed specs") and building design

- Consult on issues that arise during construction

 

If interested in volunteering to serve on the SIT, please send an email to jennifer.skates "at" dc.gov  by 9/7/12 with the following info:

ward:

school your child attends (if applicable) and grade:

why interested in serving on SIT:

 

Based on the level of interest expressed, DCPS will work to form a SIT (totaling approximately 15 members) from that group in preparation for the kickoff meeting scheduled for 9/17.
