Re: Re: Re: [WardFive] Re: [ward5] An Awesome Sight!!!

Again, I don't disagree on your basic premise about the necessity of compromise.  The fact is, however, that is has been the Republicans in Congress who have refused to compromise, not the President.  Check out the following link.  It's sobering.

I do disagree on your assertion that we are in the same place as we were four years ago.  Four years ago, we were on a downward trajectory.  Today, there are more jobs.  The unemployment rate is just as high largely because so many discouraged workers who previously stopped looking now have hope and are back in the job market.  More jobs plus more job seekers equals same unemployment rate.  Be careful when you quote statistics.  As Jerry previously pointed out, statistics can be manipulated.

I have to get to work now so I won't be responding to any more messages until perhaps later this evening.  Thanks again for the discussion.

Bradley,

Very simple we are at the same place we were four years ago. I have the Department of Labor charts and you can get them easily by a Google search or by going to their web site.

Secondly, Bradley his biggest legislation was passed so your logic is flawed. He needs to meet in the middle. This is chess sir not checkers. No President who had less than 54% of the vote can come in and run things the way he wants and Obama is no different. The country was and is divided which means compromise, not just pushing it because you think you have a mandate or are smarter than everyone else. Especially considering that as a Senator you didn't have a great relationship with everyone and that your Chief of Staff was know for being a former bull dog to push stuff through.

Sir you know as well as I do that it is more than just getting something passed.

I have just two questions for you Eric:

As Rob points out, nine months after President Obama entered the White House, unemployment had climbed to 10%.  Since then, we have had steady job creation and unemployment has dropped to just over 8%, with more new jobs created than in all eight years of the previous president's administration.  So question number 1 is this:  Do the effects of a change in economic policy take place immediately upon the inauguration of a new president or does legislation have to be passed and implemented before the effects can be realized?

Question number 2 is this, and please do the research first before answering off the cuff:  During those first two years of the Obama administration, how many bills were passed by the Democrat controlled House only to die in the Senate because of Republican led filibusters?  (Oops!  There's that filibuster word again, ruining the popular notion that because there were more than 50 Democratic Senators, the Democrats controlled the Senate. Sorry about that.)

I'm just askin'.

I'm just going to point a few things out. First unemployment is exactly where it was when Obama took office and if you considered the folks who are no longer able to apply it or who have all but stopped looking for work.

Secondly, unemployment and other items actually went up when the Dems had the house and Senate and turned when Obama had to tweak his agenda some.

As far as Clinton, yeah the same folks who lead the impeachment against him were more moderate. That's funny.

The truth is that the Democrats were actually more accepting of not so liberal members of our own party and say stuff like choke the blue dogs until they are gasping for air.

What we are having is a flash back to the Clinton days and not looking at the actual numbers.

This country is divided and the Democratic party is moving to the far left as fast, if not faster than the GOP is moving to the far right. We need to get back to working with those in the middle on both sides as that is where most of the country sits.

Good morning Robby,

Awesome question!!  Now where were we exactly "4" years ago? Please don't forget to include getting to unemployment rate of 10% in Oct 2009 - 3 years ago.  So, the question that you and the Republicans should really be asking are "Where was our Country headed 3 years ago and where is it headed now? - in and out of the beltway.

At 8.3% current unemployment, we are headed in the right direction in less than 3 years.  Last I checked, since the Depression, where the Republicans had us going from 2000 to 2009, was towards that same level. So, saving the auto industry (LOTS OF JOBS) and stabalizing Anti-America issues just by having the right Name!!!, helped to give us the breathing room to turn the economy around.

I am game to continue.  So, Please continue with Rhetoric. By the way, not basking in "glow of DNC Convention" but appreciating the beautiful representation of a cultured/variety of colored filled America vs one that is so not inclusive.  Also, Hope and Faith may be names to you, but your entire "survival now" is here today because your forefathers had those "Names" to hang onto.

Looking forward to a better response.

Or you have an example of failure. Hope and Faith are great, if they are the first names of people. But here we have a president that hasn't delivered on the gusto he put forth. I like him, really, but he's failed the Clintonian test. We are not better off than we were four years ago. We simply aren't. So while you may bask in the glow of the DNC convention. In the world outside the beltway people are broke, jobless, and looking for change. And that's not change in the President's future.

Good evening,

Just a thought - Just looking at the diversity being represented at the Democratic Convention compared to "no diversity" at the Republican Convention, it is almost impossible to not realize which Party is most representative of America - says the diversity of the audience.  While both sides has their faults and plays the game or politics really well, I am just proud that so many have taken the steps towards equality for everyone!!  So, While Change may have been made difficult over the last 4 years, we still survive on FAITH (Belief) AND HOPE (prayer)!!!

A PICTURE, PERFECT!!
