Good Afternoon,
Imagine if we got his initial reaction to everything. I have often said that beneath that seemingly cool calm exterior and bent smile when he starts talking and looking up at the same time, he is hiding his true feelings. He is an elitist. When they had the initial school closing hearing, he thought that our Faith (W5COE)was "easy pickings" and asked her a slick question -- surprised was he when she answered -- like a turtle withdrawing his head into its shell, he changed the direction of his questions. Wonder why he didn't want to take on Comm. Shirley Rivens-Smith and her testimony -- he thought he had a squirrel to chase up a tree but surprise, surprise -- Faith wasn't his squirrel that day!! My father always said -- Monkey knows which branch to swing on!!! And if you don't get it -- just know that you hardly ever see a monkey falling out of a tree -- because from birth, they learn what branches to swing on.
Wells only likes to zone on folks who are not prepared to deal with his "Pedastal" thought process. We all see him clearly. I would respect him more if he just comes out and say what he really wants to say. He is good for folks on a certain financial level (Black and White). In saying so;
Translate what he was really saying about those 3000-4000 people who are leaving the Club and you will get his true view. You don't see him saying that about anywhere else. And if you question me -- Wells often likes to "toot" that Ward 6 has more Public Housing than any other Ward -- Pray Tell ME what he has done for folks who live in those Public Housing or is his focus just been on more ELITE things. Just wish he would have a more fair approach!
And before you twist what I am saying, I am all for going Green, including Bicycles and Bike lanes. Even I have a Bicycle -- don't ride much but will be doing so this year. The problem lays in how they phase things in, abuse others while they do, have no regard for our kids and folks who are not as fortunate to be educated and trained enough to survive in this demanding society. Just look at the Ratio of how our CM's focus on those most in need than those who should be needs could wait a little. Just look at the rights given to bikes with the laws without room. They still haven't required a lic. tag for bikes so that we can easily identify them.

Tommy Wells on Call to Close Fur and Ibiza: "Maybe I'm Overreacting"
Posted by Ally Schweitzer on Mar. 13, 2013 at 5:22 pmWard 6 Councilmember (and mayoral candidate) Tommy Wells has softened on his call to shutter Fur and Ibiza. Now he's saying that the clubs should be permitted to stay open—if they clean up their act.
Early Monday morning, two cars sped by a large gathering outside the Tyler House apartments on North Capitol Street NW and sprayed the crowd with bullets, leaving 13 people injured. At least some of the victims had just returned from Fur and Ibiza, two nightclubs located a couple of blocks away. In response, Wells called for the clubs to be closed in the name of public safety.
After taking a lashing on Twitter for targeting two businesses with no demonstrated connection to Monday's shootings, Wells now sounds a little remorseful. "Maybe I'm overreacting," he says. He says the clubs should be allowed to stay open if they show more responsibility for the health and safety of their patrons when they leave the club. "They have to work with the community... and they have to show to all of us that they can keep their patrons safe when they leave there."
Police have not yet demonstrated a clear relationship between either nightclub and Monday's drive-by shooting, and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier has not moved to shut down either spot. "I don't know for a fact that Fur was directly involved with the dispute, but I do know for a fact that that is where the victims had just walked home from," says Wells.
Asked whether he plans to speak publicly about the issue again, Wells says, "I don't think so. I really responded initially very quietly." But when the issue started blowing up on Twitter, he chose to respond: "I'm not sure that that was the right thing to do. But people felt like I was not paying attention, so I started [talking] publicly about it." Now, he's leaving the job to the police, and he doesn't seem so concerned about the clubs' interests. "My highest priority is protecting the residents. ... Where the clubs fall into that is where they fall into that."
