MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Burglaries in the Fifth District
(Washington, DC)- The Metropolitan Police Department has announced significant arrests in recent burglaries that occurred in the Fifth District. The arrests were made possible through the combined of efforts of members of the Patrol Section and the Fifth District Detectives Unit.
On Wednesday, July 31, 2013, Fifth District detectives arrested 21-year old Jonathan Robinson from Southeast, Washington, DC. In each of these cases, it is believed Mr. Robinson broke into residences when unsuspecting victims were asleep and stole valuables. Mr. Robinson was charged with Burglary in the First Degree for offenses on the following days and locations:
· Sunday, June 2, 2013, 100 block of Adams Street NW, Washington DC, at approximately 2:15 am
· Sunday, July 21, 2013, 2200 block of 1st Street NW, Washington DC, at approximately 5:00 am
· Wednesday, July 31, 2013, Unit block of Adams Street NW, Washington DC, at approximately 4:45 am
· Wednesday, July 31, 2013, Unit block of T Street NW, Washington, DC, at approximately 6:10 am
· Wednesday, July 31, 2013, 100 block of Adams Street NW, Washington, DC, at approximately 6:43am
On Wednesday, July 31, 2013, Fifth District detectives arrested 24-year old Donte Polk of Northeast, Washington D.C. Mr. Polk has been charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree in the following cases:
· Sunday, June 16, 2013, 1400 block of Morse Street NE, Washington, DC, at approximately 9:30 am
· Tuesday, July 23, 2013, 1100 block of Morse Street NE, Washington, DC, at approximately 8:15 am
On Thursday, August 1, 2013, 20-year old Steven Warren of Northwest, Washington, DC was arrested and charged with Burglary One while Armed. Mr. Warren was apprehended by members of the Fifth District and Special Operations Division K-9 Unit while in the act of breaking into a home in the 1200 block of Montello Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC.
On Thursday, August 1, 2013, at approximately 5:00 am, a juvenile male was arrested following a break in at an establishment in 300 block of P Street Northwest, Washington, DC. The suspect was arrested and charged with Burglary II.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the suspects' involvement in other similar offenses. Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099.
