[WardFive] Join us Tuesday for our April meeting

We invite you to join us for our monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 14th from 6:30-8:30p at the Lamond-Riggs Library (5401 South Dakota Ave NE).

This month we have a great agenda!

Round 1 of the Lottery is over, so now what?: A representative from My School DC will join us to discuss the outcomes from round 1 of the lottery; share with us the specifics of the second round of the lottery, which is now open for all grades; and what happens next. Got questions? Need direction on next steps? Join us and get your questions answered.

PCSB Public Engagement on new public charter applications: The Public Charter School Board is beginning the charter application and approval process for public charter schools that would open in SY16-17.  They have received 5 applications (found here: http://www.dcpcsb.org/blog/new-charter-school-applications-2015-quality-and-choice) and will be hosting a public hearing on April 20th and the Board will be voting on May 18th on each of the applications.  One of the five applicants, Breakthrough Montessori, has indicated Ward 5 as a potential location. A representative from PCSB will join us to discuss the process, the applications, other public engagement opportunities, and next steps. We MUST let our voices be heard on this subject and have a say in how the pending applications could potentially impact Ward 5.

We hope that you will join us. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at ward5coe@gmail.com. See you on Tuesday!
