Eric J,
First of all, I always say that you are a really nice guy and informed. I also told you before on many times that you ride the fence. The other day when I saw you, I told you that you are in the wrong profession but and you told me that there should be more people like you in the "Lobbyist" profession. Well, I was wrong. You are in the right profession because only a few can do a good job like you at flip flopping to get what ever done you need or get what ever point across you need at that moment.
What Commissioner Ransom (who I respect a lot for standing Tall) is saying that you really need to take a step back and identify a place to stand before you continue to embarass yourself -- and I am not talking about just this conversation. The other day, I read and watched Eric (in dc) strip all your clothes off and embarass you in three emails as you flip flopped all over the place. God help me, it was embarassing.
There are many times that I have tried to nudge you into the light until you start with the nonsense that may proliferate the wrong information and some folks may start believing you so I have to push you really hard into allignment. Understand lots of Folks (Black and White) see you flopping like a fish out of water.
I am saying this because I really want you to understand that I do care about you and the direction you are going. The problem with you is that you have access to too much information + you are a lobbyist + trying to be a community activist + being Black + trying to pacify Whites + got a little education + in your mid 30's + may have made a few dollars + got you a little ego because you know some folks (really just enough to raise a few dollars from them so that they own you) + sit in the environment of the Wilson Building (tough to wallow in mud all day and not be "dirty") + you think you know too _____ much and not enough to sift through it all and while holding onto your core beliefs and upbringing -- This is a perfect equation for a flip flopping disaster. Take it from me. I was never a flip flopper but I have made my share of mistakes; enough that only by the good Grace of God, a good upbringing and my life's education and experience salvaged me.
While folks will say that I am too harsh and direct, no one will ever say that I am inconsistant or flip flop - I don't care what race you ask.
Imagine if I had the information about downtown that you seem to have or you lead us to believe that you have typhooning around in that youthful (inexperienced and brown nosing) mind of yours -- I would be too dangerous and folks would be losing their jobs left and right. Now, stop sniffing peoples rears and stand tall and be confident that you could do the real you and still be successful -- not this flip flop haphazard Eric that is now becoming habitual and having to be justified. Now, pay attention -- a Strong Intelligent Experienced Black Woman is telling you this below with no benefit/agenda behind it:
"At times, its hard to believe that you actually live in DC. Never heard so much cloaked hatred in my life. The money must be spellbinding because with the many times that you try to defend these discriminatory actions of these businesses, how can you honestly say "hello" to a fellow Washingtonian trying to make a honest, fairly waged living with a straight face or sleep at night, or look at yourself in the mirror? Makes me think you feel/think that DC residents are inferior, except yourself".
Now, I don't think the word is "hatred" but probably more like "BU**sh8t" is how I would phrase it.
Don't brush this off lightly. WAKE UP!! I have watch your language for years and you leave your discussions/arguments too wide open for criticism and they are too easily dismantled. You are much better than the level that you are performing at.
