Subject: [U Street News] SAVE GARRISON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! There is still time!

Dear Friends,

As many of you have already heard, DC Public Schools is proposing to consolidate 20 schools, including the in-boundary school for many families on these listserves Garrison Elementary School at 1200 S Street, NW.  Ward 1 has more students at Garrison (located across the street in W2) than other ward.

Garrison is to be consolidated with Seaton, leaving the Logan Circle/U Street areas without a real neighborhood school.  Current and prospective parents, the local community, neighboring schools and have all embraced the school and helped build a strong community around it.  Now is the time to demonstrate our broad and strong support for the school.

Please read and sign this petition -- http://chn.ge/RWgbv5.  With only a few minutes and a few clicks you can have a tremendous impact.  Please spread the word through the community and check back often for updates!
If you are using Twitter, tweet #SaveGarrison.
Please share on Facebook.

Thank you in advance for supporting this important effort.

Many thanks, Councilmember Jim Graham
