Good Morning Ward 5,
Thanks Wendy. I had suggested this location at the initial meeting at Ivy City a while ago to the representative from the Deputy Mayor's office who was very dismissive -- intelligent young punkish attitude if I ever seen/heard one. Also I had suggested it about the Spingarm Car Barn a long time ago as an alternative.
Ms. Gigi -- I wasn't joking about it. I just had a conversation last Saturday at Home Depot with someone who told me again that the Bridge was the issue and I realized that folks weren't really looking at this properly close enough. Like I said, we have to "cross that bridge" anyways if this Trolley Car was meant to service the good/existing folks of Ward 7. So, why not reinforce it now.
Also, Any intelligent/conscientious "Planner" would know that Spingarm site (now Historic - but Historic in its own right prior) and the Crummel School site which was propagated for years as a workforce and development site is not the place for SLOP type uses.
Aaron -- as for the "development" plans for the Former trash site on benning road, can you get us that info. We were aware that Pepco was going to be developed but at some point if something has to give, I am sure that the Citizens would rather see the Trash Site be the PROUD host of the Car Barn and the Bus Parking -- killing two main issues with one stone.
Also, ANY BASIC SCHOOL PLANNER would see that Spingarn's Campus is best situated for being the Best site for a School Campus -- not an expanded "trade" school and the fact that NPS probably would not have an issue with our students utilizing that Course as a place for our kids to learn/play Golf -- which is one of the focus of this Golf Course for years -- minus a few thieves at Langston.

The price of Langston actually isn't the lowest in the area as it is part of the three courses set in DC.

So I am really missing something. I suggested thisas an option a very long time ago to be a solution for both theTrolley Barn and Bus Parking Lot.1. Why can't we reinforce the little bridge opposite the Golf Range onBenning Road and put the Trolley Barn there. Sure it will cost butwouldn't it open hide the Trolley Barn from view, open up Spingarm'sLand to be better utilized as it is on our School Property and it ison a main thoroughfare. Eventually, they would have to take on theexpense if they really wanted to make the city "trolley (expensivesubsidized streetcar) green" for our Ward 7 residents.2. Why can't they place the same Bus Barn right there on the samesite instead of at Crummel. That location on Benning Road is actuallycloser to Union Station and Makes much more sense. This leaves uswith a Crummel School for our City to do something productive with inthat community. This location would solve the problem for both issues that we arefacing. They have to reinforce that bridge anyways if they are goingto continue the Trolley line. Why not now?? As a community, we arenot going to protest that site and it is completely hidden from view. What else are we going to use that site for??Rob Ramson-- R.
