[WardFive] Water Tax idea to keep Schools Open.

Good Morning Ward 5,

How about we get DCPS to do what they should have done in the first place and give us the #'s for what it would take to fully staff the schools and keep it open.  Maybe we can all initially take on this payment (Monthly Water Bill Tax -- $.50 to 1 for homes, condos, apartments, (excluding money from those on public assistance or unemployed - if a water bill affects them) and Store front Businesses -- all pay $10 and Commercial buildings pay a certain percentage per sq ft. per mth for a year with the agreement that we get to restructure DCPS's budget -- especially Central Office Staff and also revisit how the allotments are used.

We have enough people in the community who understands dissecting budgets.  Heck, if we are going to pay for Feces in people's homes because of the City's lack of Planning, then we might as well pay for the Schools.  Personally, I think the Chancellor's Salary is too high and especially for the results that we are having.

So, I don't want Kaya fired because;

1.  I think she is very intelligent and has a lot to offer,
2.  I want to see her connection lines to Rhee exposed,
3.  I want to give her the opportunity to break free from chains that she may not have a choice being locked into (if that is the case)
4.  I want her present to see the common sense changes that would produce results much more than any text book/educational program that she has put forth so far.
5.  I want her present to be exposed if she is doing something that she shouldn't with the Charter Schools.

Let's get that Cost analysis to keep schools open vs. closing them and allow the public to (Water Tax) contribute for a year until we solve this problem.
