Friends:
I don't have a dog in this race but I have to agree with Commissioner Ransom on this. Vandalism is vandalism and no matter how we feel about Faith Congregational U.C.C.'s proposed development project, we should oppose criminal activity in our communities. Whether it's on the walls of a church, on a storefront, on the side of a school building or on a private citizen's fence, and whether the message is a political one or a gang tag, graffiti is illegal, it contributes to the deterioration of the neighborhood and Commissioner Ransom was right to speak out against it.

Peace and Blessings,
Based on the community's interactions or the lack thereof with this congregation, I question the validity of the "alleged" vandalism! I seriously doubt that someone in the community would stoop to a disgraceful level to target this invisible church! So please do not allow yourself to be baited by this desperate plea for sympathy because NMPCA, SMD-5A04, and SMD-5A03 voted 99% against the proposed development project citing several issues and concerns that were greater than the two points FUCC referenced.!

Don't understand how this post slipped by with no responses yesterday. My feelings, no matter your position on Fiath United decision to build Sr Housing, defacing a Church that serves/served our community reflects poorly on the character of all those who do not want this project built as intended. I have alot of respect for some of the members in opposition, but allowing someone or individuals to express their oppsition in this manner, especially if this/these are adults, has definitely given me second thoughts and I'm sure others.
Oppose this project the right way, through the process, win or lose, at least you stood up for what you believed in sends the right message, more importantly for our next generation.
The opposition group should find out who did this, or the person(s) should come forward and take responsibility for their actions.

FAITH UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, WASHINGTON, D.C. TARGETED WITH HATEFUL GRAFFITI ON ITS CHURCH BUILDINGS
Faith United Church of Christ of Washington, D.C. was targeted with hateful graffiti on three of its buildings on November 25, 2012. This Christian church located in Ward 5's North Michigan Park community in the Nation's Capitol is working with the Retirement Housing Foundation to partner in a venture to build housing for seniors of modest income. It has been demonstrated that there is a significant need in the District of Columbia for affordable senior housing.
While a number of civic organizations, groups, and individuals have voiced their opposition to the new housing for reasons related to parking issues and changes in property values; an element of verbally abusive opposition at some civic meetings has come from people rejecting housing for seniors of modest incomes.
Vandals wrote graffiti on the walls of the Church, including the phrases "No low income housing" and "No more ghettos".
