Please Note: Plymouth will ONLY have ONE Service for the duration of the summer. Instead of having a service at 8 am and then at 11 am, there will only be ONE Service at 10 am. This schedule shall continue through Labor Day. Join us at Plymouth Congregational UCC on Sundays in Worship at 10 am. The teaching subject this week is "Passing Life's Tests" and the scripture is lesson is from 1 Kings 19:4-8. Rev. Carolyn L. Boyd, Minister of Organizational and Ministry Development will be preaching.
Adult Sunday School meets 9:30 am every Sunday in the Library. You are invited!
The Community of All People, Reston, Virginia meets for Worship every Sunday at 4 p.m. This is a developing church and meets at the Washington Plaza Baptist Church, 1615 Washington Plaza, Reston, Virginia 20190. If you are in the area or know someone in the area who can benefit from this warm fellowship please extend an invitation to them.
Youth Ministry Fish Fry
On Saturday, August 3, 2012 the Youth Ministry, under the direction of Ms. Brigette Rouson, held a fish fry here at Plymouth Church. Ms. Shar'ron Tendai played an integral part in coordinating the events leading up to the fish fry. Mr. Howard Bracey was the fish fryer for the event with over 100 dinners being sold. Throughout the course of the day the sides changed varying from mac and cheese and string beans to rice, kale salad and collard greens. (FYI...The kale salad was delicious!) There was also cornbread, rolls and an array of desserts. It was an awesome event and very well attended! YOUTH MINISTRY ROCKS!

There will be a Church Committee meeting August 15, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel. This is the continuation of the July 11th meeting. The discussion will begin with Article V - Section 7. Golden Heart Yoga DC is a small, community-oriented yoga studio that recently opened on Georgia Avenue in Petworth. The studio is owned and operated by two Petworth residents and offers a variety of different types of yoga classes at all levels. Classes are very affordable, with a maximum cost of $12 for a 60-minute class and $15 for a 75-minute class. Class passes and discounts for students and seniors are available. There are many beginner and mixed-level classes that are geared toward new students, with daytime, evening and weekend options.

The Board of Christian Education will sponsor Christian Education/Back to School Sunday on August 26, 2012 at the 10 AM worship service. We will be giving away school supplies to children attending the service. Also we are reaching out to the students from LaSalle-Backus Educational Campus (EC) and inviting them to attend the service. LaSalle-Backus EC, a neighboring school, has been identified as one of the 40 lowest performing schools in the city. We need the congregation's help in collecting the following school supplies: backpacks, notebook, paper, pencils, and pens Please drop your donations in the box located in the Narthex. Thank you.
