Re: [WardFive] Ch 7 News At Noon: One Juror May Have a Book Deal

I'm afraid not.  Jeopardy has attached.  If this had been discovered before the verdict was rendered, it would likely have been grounds for a mistrial but once a person has been acquitted, even proof positive of his guilt or a confession of guilt will not be grounds for a new trial on the same charges.

Just heard this. If this is confirmed to be true, that one of the jurors has a book deal, could this impropriety lead to a new trial? Questions to be answered, when was this juror approached about a book deal? Was it after jury selection, or before the trial started or during the trial?  Divine Justice on the way!
