[WardFive] Gordon Fletcher -Ward Five Committeeman

Good afternoon,

I am supporting Gordan Fletcher for Ward 5 Committeeman.

Below and attached is information on his accomplishments.

Gordon has shown he is about follow through on getting things done in the community.

Shirley Rivens Smith, President

North Woodridge Citizens

2000 Upshur St., NE

Washington, DC 20018

202-635-3138

My name is Gordon-Andrew Fletcher, and I am running to be your next Ward Five Committeeman for the District of Columbia Democratic State Committee. I am a Ward Five resident in the Fort Totten/North Michigan Park neighborhood. Additionally, I serve as Vice Chair of ANC 5A representing Single Member District 5A08. Moreover, I serve as the Voter Registration/Education Drive Chair for the Ward Five Democratic Party.

I am running for the position of Ward Five Committeeman because it is time for serious change within the DC Democratic State Committee and the Democratic Party as a whole. I plan to bring about new energy and ideas, more accountability, and increased assistance to Democratic candidates in DC and neighboring states that will support DC Statehood. In addition, we must empower high school students as future voters and to be politically engaged.

Please vote for Gordon-Andrew Fletcher on June 19, 2018

You can follow the campaign by following me on Facebook @ Gordon-Andrew Lee Fletcher-Esq. or Instagram @Anccommissionerfletcher.

Hey y'all!

I had an amazing time on the lower yough with everyone! I saw so much improvement from Ohiopyle Falls to Bruner Run! I can't remember the last time I spent 7 hours on a river, but I look forward to when I can do that again!!

Anyways, I have videos and photos from that trip. I haven't had the time to organize them or anything, but there is a lot of content and some of it might be bad, but most good I think!

If it doesn't work let me know, I've never shared photos through google before.

I'll see y'all on the Upper Yough!

Dear All,

Please get the word out about our Forum on June 5, 2018.  The public will have two opportunities to hear from the Council Chair candidates. PAVE is having a forum with them on the 6th.  Ours is for both the Chair and the at large.

It is important that we have an excellent turnout.  Here is the Eventbrite link.   https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dc-council-candidates-forum-on-education-tickets-46212952184?aff=ehomecard

Please send it to your folks and urge those that you know to attend.   I will post it on twitter. If many of you can get it out further on social media that would be great.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 29th. It was hard to get a location and also have some of the folks who could not attend last time be able to come this time.  I would like to establish a meeting date that we can all plan around instead of having to do it this way.  The Thurgood Marshall Center where we have scheduled the forum is available on that evening.

[WardFive] An Invitation Is Extended

Greetings Friends and Neighbors,

Join the White House protest…

http://www.reclaimingjesus.org/

…with The Most Rev. Michael B. Curry, Presiding Bishop and Primate, The Episcopal Church and several other prominent progressive Christian leaders, including the Rev. Sharon Watkins, former General Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Rev. James Forbes, former pastor of New York's Riverside Church, and the Rev. Jim Wallis, President and Founder, Sojourners.

“We invite you to join…a service of prayer and gospel proclamation, followed by a procession to the White House

and a silent prayerful candlelight vigil as a witness that the church will not be complicit, but faithful.”

Thursday, May 24, 2018, 7 p.m.

National City Christian Church

5 Thomas Circle, Washington, DC 20005

“Reject the resurgence of white nationalism and racism in our nation on many fronts, including the highest levels of political leadership. We, as followers of Jesus, must clearly reject the use of racial bigotry for political gain that we have seen. In the face of such bigotry, silence is complicity. In particular, we reject white supremacy and commit ourselves to help dismantle the systems and structures that perpetuate white preference and advantage. Further, any doctrines or political strategies that use racist resentments, fears, or language must be named as public sin—one that goes back to the foundation of our nation and lingers on. Racial bigotry must be antithetical for those belonging to the body of Christ, because it denies the truth of the gospel we profess.” – [Statement at www.ReclaimingJesus.org]

[WardFive] Will you Stand with Shirley Rivens Smith

I have great respect for Ward 5 leaders who have been at the forefront of civic engagement in our Ward. That is why I am proud to announce that Ms. Shirley Rivens Smith is endorsing me in my campaign to be the next Ward 5 representative on the State Board of Education! When we spoke she had this to say:

"Adrian, you have worked hard, been engaged, and have always worked with everyone in our community. Your energy, enthusiasm, and experience are exactly what we need to make the schools in Ward 5 even better. You definitely have my full support!"

I am humbled to have the support of one of the most respected residents in Ward 5. Her leadership and service as an ANC Commissioner, Civic Association President, and a leader in the DC Chapter of the NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. speaks for itself.

As our momentum continues, I ask you to stand with Ms. Shirley Rivens Smith and support our campaign. Will you make a donation today? No amount is too small, chip in today!

Graham

I have to go home anyway to get a boat.  I will bring the pirouette, my Cheat boat and see you at Carderock at 6:15.

Ok. Plastic boats at Carderock at six.    The wood should be much reduced with falling water levels.

Either slalom or remix

Slalom for an attain up the back channel and a run down to Carderock

The Remix for a gorge run from sandy beach to old anglers or Carderock.

The Potomac is 8.9 and falling.

Anyone else frustrated with not paddling enough over the weekend and wanting to meet at old angler's?  We could set shuttle at Carderock at 6 since an attainment may be challenging .

Hey All,
An update from our beloved Carrie Hood, kicking butt at Riverrock on the James today:

"Down River race was yesterday at 10.5ft on the gauge. I took 1st in Ladies and 4th overall. I watched the top 3 guys battle it out the whole way and it was epic!"

No, Carrie, YOU are epic! Best of luck in boater-cross this afternoon (at 14 ft on the river gauge!!) All of Calleva-LAKS is cheering for you!!
