Re: cheat_training_group Low water lines

Smart decision don't always correspond to race lines.

Would think you might have walked it at a half foot!

Run it at half a foot.

Still the best path.

John,
You still run the center all the way down to as low as the Cheat can be run (I have run down to 1 foot). Any other line would be creeky and slow for racing purposes. There could possibly be a line somewhere else (on the right?) that would hit less rocks at low flow but I don't know. Center is always fast.

Yeah, today for sure. But my math skills are weak, and this is not a simple slope. Absent some local water from whenever the rain starts on Friday, I'd guess we'll be in the 1.3 to 1.4 range for the race. Lower than that and whatta we got?

You always go down the middle of High Falls regardless of level. 2 feet is still plenty of water for the middle line.

OK, y'all...this is starting to get ridiculous. It sure looks as if we may have the lowest levels in a while. FU rocks popping up everywhere! And the start will be a drunken goat rodeo/riot. But I digress. ;-)

Does anyone know/remember the low water line(s) at High Falls? I remember doing the bumpty-bump down some ledges on the far river left...but I can't remember whether we were just screwing around or if that was what really all that was available.

Past that, I'm in mortal dread of the cobble bar down toward the end...not because it's dangerous or anything. It's just that knuckle-walking near the end of a long slow race is just no fun at all. "Slow grinding death?" They better have beer AND IVs at the Fest tent Friday night.

Thanks...
