[WardFive] DCPS second Blog Update on Master Jamar Lee -trip to China

Hello again!

We have had so many amazing experiences since the last time that we messaged you and we cannot wait to share them all with you when we get back!

Our first two days of the trip were spent exploring Beijing and learning about Chinese culture, history, and language. Day one started with a visit to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City before heading to the Summer Palace where we took a dragon boat to a tai chi lesson. After a good night's sleep, we headed to the Great Wall of China! It was incredible to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World and it was much steeper than we all anticipated! From there we had a toured around a community within Beijing on rickshaws and had a impressive dinner at a local family's house and tried their family's secret chicken recipe.

We have now made our way to the community of Dao Lazui where we had the chance to meet some school kids and community members as we celebrated the first dig in building a kitchen for the community school. The students impressed us with their energy and enthusiasm while working to dig the foundation and move bricks to be laid for the kitchen. We are so excited for the days to come as the students dedication to this service project really shined through today! We will be in touch again soon with more photos!!

All the best (GO DC!)
