In your individual and home emergency preparedness planning, please consider the following checks and recommendations (this is a non-exhaustive list, also, please know it is not a proprietary creation of mine):

Fill up your car's gas tank

Have a 3-day, one gallon per person per day supply of water

Have a 3-day supply of non-perishable, easy to prepare food

Have a flashlight and extra batteries

         First aid kit

         Medications

         All-purpose tool kit

         Cell phone and chargers

Cash (ATMs may be down after storm)

Wait 10 seconds before redialing a number. If you redial too quickly, the data from the handset to the cell sites do not have enough time to clear before you've re-sent the same data. This contributes to a clogged network

Use the Internet to communicate by email, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media networks.

These communication channels allow you to share information quickly with a widespread audience or to find out if loved ones are OK. The Internet can also be used for telephone calls through Voice over Internet Protocol.

Send a text message, which may go through when phone calls cannot.

Check your loved one's social media pages (i.e., Facebook, Twitter), as they may have already gone online to tell their story.

         Send an email

Call friends and relatives who may have already been in contact with your loved ones

This is the time for our community to come together and support each other. We encourage you to check on your neighbors and offer support to elderly members of our community.

Stay  Safe

Robert
