[WardFive] Events coming up -Douglass Bicentennial, Gun Control Rally, Chinese New Year Parade

My most sincere condolences to all the victims, families, and friends of the horrific shooting that took the lives of 17 people at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.   This is the 17th school shooting in 45 days.   Now is the time to talk gun control.  I hope you will join me and many others next Monday, February 19th from 11am-1pm at a White House Rally calling on gun control (see details below).

A couple of other events I want to highlight are: This year marks the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Frederick Douglass.  A series of events are taking place this month throughout the city (his birth and Black History Month), please see below for details.  And this Sunday, is the traditional Chinese New Year Parade.  The Parade will officially welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year, the year of the Dog.  Please come and join many of us who will be celebrating it.

Like always, I hope to see some of you at some of these events.

Thank you,

Franklin Garcia
