”The Trump administration on Monday proposed canceling a new headquarters for the FBI that was to be built in Maryland or Virginia, opting instead for a “revitalization” of the agency’s current headquarters in downtown Washington.  In a report due to the Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee, the General Services Administration said the new approach would “provide the FBI with a headquarters capable of supporting national security…while providing a good deal for the taxpayer.”  The move was a blow to Maryland and Virginia, which had been competing for years for the new project and its anticipated 11,000 jobs. The Trump administration abruptly halted the effort last year, citing a lack of funding from Congress. Lawmakers on the Senate committee requested the agency explain what its next steps would be.”
